As I’m a running coach focused on beginner runners I hear my clients, especially women, launching into their story of how much they suck at running, how they’re not a runner and how they never will be…
Wow! I’m always like…”Relax! Be a little kinder to yourself”
Instead of labelling yourself as “not a natural runner”, a “non-runner”, “a fat runner” or whatever ‘acceptably horrendous’ phrase you place on yourself to set low expectations … try these
“I’m learning to run”, “I’m training to run 5k”, “I’m a runner in progress” or a “runner in training” because you are! You’re just at the start of your journey so give yourself permission and time to grow into your new identity
Committing to a running event sets you up with the right amount of anticipation and motivation.
PS: If you’d like to join the moxiee movement – inspiring confidence women – then request your invite to the facebook group. A safe, positive and encouraging place for women to hang out, connect, share and get inspired by women doing everyday awesomeness.
And if you’d like to go that one step further and kickstart your running, here is something easy to get your going.
